4basebio is an innovative gene synthesis company with the ambition to provide high quality, synthetic DNA for use in gene therapy and vaccine platforms. We are expanding our teams at our premises just North of Cambridge, UK, to facilitate GMP production of our DNA products for use in mRNA and viral applications, as well as developing non-viral nanoparticles for nucleic acid delivery.

We are looking for a Warehouse Manager who will be responsible for overseeing and managing the receipt, storage, and distribution of pack materials, regains, components, products and raw materials. This role ensures that production processes are efficient, meet quality standards, and align with company objectives. The role plays a critical role in optimizing production workflows, managing resources, and ensuring that manufacturing schedules are met in a timely and cost-effective manner. All warehouse activities comply with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and Good Distribution Practice (GDP) and regulatory requirements, while optimising efficiency, accuracy, and safety within the warehouse environment.

Responsibilities:

  • To oversee the daily operations of the warehouse, including receiving, storage, inventory management, and shipping of products and materials.
  • Ensure that all warehouse activities comply with GMP, regulatory requirements, and company policies.
  • Implement and maintain best practices for warehouse operations to maximize efficiency and accuracy (Kanban).
  • Manage a warehouse team to reach short and longer term performance goals and solve any day-to-day operational issues
  • Supervise daily activities of the warehouse, including quality assurance, inventory control, space management, logistics, floor productivity, shipping, and customer service
  • Manage the segregation and disposition of expired, damaged, or non-conforming products in accordance with company policies, SOP and regulatory requirements.
  • Conduct regular inventory audits and cycle counts to maintain accurate inventory records and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Monitor stock levels and coordinate with procurement and production planning to ensure the timely availability of materials for production.
  • Oversee and co-ordinate logistics utilised to transport products to clients and 4bb internal facilities, communicating with drivers to ensure efficient delivery of packages
  • Identify and mitigate potential risks related to warehouse operations, including supply failures, temperature control deviations, supply chain disruptions, and regulatory non-compliance.
  • Develop and implement contingency plans to ensure business continuity in the event of a warehouse emergency or disruption
  • Manage and monitor the warehouse layout and use of the space to ensure safe, secure and efficient storage and retrieval of materials
  • Maintain a safe and healthy work environment by establishing, following and enforcing standards and procedures that comply with quality and legal regulations

Person Specification:

  • Significant experience of working in a GxP environment in a warehouse and or logistical role.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, organised, efficient and motivated self starter
  • Experience of line management
  • Commercially astute, pragmatic style
  • Batchelor of science degree or equivalent work experience
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Must hold the right to work in the UK

This role is primarily warehouse and office based, however there may be some travel expectations between sites and to logistic providers and customer locations on occasion
